2022 Closed for Juneteenth
  • Library Closed for Juneteenth – Monday, June 20th

    The library will be closed tomorrow, Monday, June 20th in observance of the new federal holiday, Juneteenth National Independence Day.

  • Aaron Fowler “Climb Onboard the Boat” – Tuesday, June 21st at 11 am

    Musician Aaron Fowler and his trained therapy dogs, will be at the library on Tuesday, June 21st at 11 am with his “Climb Onboard the Boat” Summer Reading program.

    There will be singing, moving, playing instruments, and sharing stories, including stories from the latest book in the Bella and Choco series, The Boat.

    For ages 4 & up.

  • Teen & Adult Craft: Bubble Art – Tuesday, June 21st at 2 pm

    Teens & adults are welcome to this craft where we will be making bubble art. Use oil pastels on black paper to make your bubble creation really pop!

    Supplies will be limited. Call 620-626-0180 or sign up online.

Luau Bunco 2022
  • Luau Bunco – Thursday, June 23rd at Noon

    Adults, come join our Luau Bunco Party! Seating is limited, so sign up online or at the front desk. (Snacks will be served)

  • Movie Time – Thursday, June 23rd at 4:30 pm

    Come to the library and enjoy a movie and free popcorn! This will be part of our Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Program.

    Based on a true story, this live action family movie stars Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, and Morgan Freeman.

    While swimming free in the ocean, a young dolphin gets caught in a trap and severely damages her tail. Though she is rescued, her tail cannot be saved, and the prognosis is dire. What the dolphin needs is a miracle. She gets that miracle in the form of a marine biologist , a prosthetics designer, and a devoted boy, who find a way to help her swim again.

  • Teen Water Fun – Friday, June 24th from 3 pm to 6 pm

    We’ll have several water based games for teens on the library’s front lawn. Sign up is required and please wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet!

  • Game Day – Thursday, June 30th starting at 4 pm.

    Join us for free play and tournaments. Come and go as you please. This event is open to all ages, bring a friend or family member to try out a new game!

2022 Mad Science
  • Mad Science – Amazing Oceans – Friday, July 1st at 11 am

    Mad Science presents Amazing Oceans! Join Mad Science this summer as they dive into the deep and amazing Ocean of Possibilities!

    How do fish rise and sink in water? Why do some fish light up in the dark? What other mysteries lie within the murky deep? We even learn how to exercise environmental responsibility as we give back to the ocean that gives us so much. Join us this summer as we discover together this great Ocean of Possibilities!

2022 Container Gardening Craft
  • Container Gardening Craft – Thursday, June 30th at 2 pm

    Learn about container gardening while having fun planting seeds and decorating a flowerpot to take home! Supplies are limited, register to save your spot. Presented by the Wild West District of K-State Research and Extension.

    Adults and teens only.

  • Interactive Movie for Teens and Adults – Friday, July 1st at 3 pm

    Enjoy an interactive showing of the first swash-buckling tale of Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, and Elizabeth Swann.

    Interactive showings are a fun way of watching a movie where everyone gets a bag of surprises and instructions, and you shout and snack along with the movie.

  • Lee Richardson Zoomobile – Tuesday, July 5th at 11 am

    The Lee Richardson Zoo will bring their Zoomobile to the library on Tuesday, July 5th at 11 am. Enjoy a storytime and a visit from an animal friend straight from the Lee Richardson Zoo.

  • Teen & Adult Craft: Sea Glass Windchimes – Tuesday, July 5th at 2 pm

    Teens & adults are welcome to this craft where we will be making sea glass windchimes. Sea glass is a really pretty muted color. String them together and hang them up to make a unique wind chime for your home!

  • Movie Time – Thursday, July 7th at 4:30 pm

    Come to the library and enjoy a movie and free popcorn! This will be part of our Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Program.

    This Disney Pixar film is set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera. It is a coming-of-age story about a young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. But all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: he is a sea monster from another world just below the water’s surface.

  • Library and Lunch – On Tuesday, July 12th​ at Noon, our book club will meet to discuss “The Unhoneymooners” by Christina Lauren.

  • End of Summer Reading Party with Magician Dan Dan the Magic Man – Thursday, July 14th at 1 pm

    Our end of Summer Reading Party will feature Dan Dan the Magic Man along with fun activities for all ages.

Libraries Rock

The Summer Reading Program theme for this year is “Libraries Rock!” We will have a lot of music in our events this June & July! Here’s what’s coming up this summer:

Kids ages 0-11 can sign up for Summer Reading Program now at the library or on our website.

No sign-up necessary for young adults (ages 12-19) to participate in our Summer Reading Program! When a young adult checks out a book or comes to a Summer Reading Event, they get a scratch off ticket! (Limit two tickets per person per day.) Most scratch tickets are prize winners. The ones that are not winners are entered to win the grand prize! We have a variety of prizes, including fidget cubes, small speakers, and earbuds.

Adults, complete the stops on our Summer Reading World Tour for prizes! Watch our website for fun summer activities! Watch movies, make crafts, and listen to music.

  • This Saturday at 1:30 pm, Poppa D. Clown will present a musical program for our Summer Reading Kickoff! Free popcorn and drinks will be served.
  • USD 480 is serving free lunches for kids ages 1-18 at the library starting on Monday, June 4. Lunches will be served Monday – Friday, 11:30 am
  • Ages 12 & up can join us for weekly games of Yu-Gi-Oh on Mondays at 6 pm, starting next week!
  • Starting June 5, we will have three weekly storytimes, featuring stories, songs, and a craft! Storytime for ages birth – 3 years old is on Tuesdays at 11 am, ages 4 – 6 years on Thursdays at 11 am, and all ages on Thursdays at 6 pm. Every child gets a free book at every storytime!
  • Mad Science will be here on Tues., June 5 at 1:30 pm to show kids the science of sound.
  • We will have Video Game Day for ages 12 & up on Wednesdays at 4 pm! Plus, we will have a craft for ages 12 & up every other Wednesday at this time.
  • Starting June 8, every Friday is Funday at 2 pm! We’ll be watching movies, building with Legos, playing Video Games, making crafts, and enjoying free refreshments.
  • The next Library and Lunch is on Tuesday, June 12 at noon. Bring your lunch and join us for a discussion of the book Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline.
  • Smokey Hills PBS is coming to the library on Wed., June 14 at 1:30 pm with a Daniel Tiger storytime for ages 3-7!
  • Get your hair styled like a Rock Star on Mon., June 18th at 1:30 pm!
  • Dan Dan the Magic Man puts on a magical, musical show on Friday, June 29 at 2 pm!
  • Musician Aaron Fowler will be at the library on Thursday, July 12 at 11 am! Music, movement, and stories for ages 4 and up.
  • Learn about Native American dances and traditions on Tuesday, July 17 at 2 pm! Ken Dixon and Regina Smith will be at the library for this special event.
  • Our End of Summer Reading Party will be on Saturday, July 28 at 1 pm. Enjoy ice cream and celebrate all you’ve done over the summer!
